Thankful Thursday

  1. I am thankful for my family warts and all. I heard from Jim in the last couple of days and it sounds like he caught that stomach bug that everyone else in the world got.  Liz and Nelson got a new chair for Nelson and gave the old one to my nephew Rich.   Rich came over last night to put fix on the window that blew open sometime Wednesday morning.  He is going to make a wood stop for me to put into the frame so it doesn’t open.
  2. I am thankful for my kitties. I am glad they didn’t try to get out in the cold air from Wednesday.   They have been doing their stuff.  I have the first of two vet appointments after the new year.  Should be interesting to see how it goes.
  3. I am thankful for my job. We had our holiday party and it was a huge success.  We surmise that about 300 hundred Yale Medicine.  The food and décor was incredible.  I did some dancing but had to stop when I was having the beginnings of a wardrobe malfunction.
  4. I am thankful for the Medical profession that keeps me on the road to good health. I heard from the health coach this week and we have a meeting next Monday.  I have a session with Debra tonight via phone.
  5. I am thankful for my neighbors: Neighbor Don dug me out over the weekend.  Everyone is doing well.  Young Shannon returned from School for the holiday.  I haven’t seen her yet I am so looking forward to that.
  6. I am thankful for my home. Happily, the window was fixed but is now on the big to do list for the spring.  I have had the heat up to 70 degrees in the last few days and at times it was even too hot for me.
  7. I am thankful for my friends. I got some great letters from my pen pals.  My friends in NC, FL, and all over seem to be doing good.
  8. I am thankful for the organizations I belong to. Just finished up Ladies guild autumn activities.  It’s still a hassle about the nominations committee.  I told Tami that the next time I volunteer for something remind how difficult it is.

9             I am thankful for the weather.  The snow has been lovely.

  1. I am thankful for the men and women who choose to protect and serve their country and their citizens even at the worst possible times.

Bake sale was yesterday and $200 was made.  WE were given an update for Evening holiday party and few of my co-workers are already complaining.
4.            I am thankful for the Medical profession that keeps me on the road to good health.  I should be done with the antibiotic in the next day or two for the UTI.  I called Courtney the health coach to get back on a regime.  No other appointments except for later on in the month (dec)  .

Thankful Thursday Thanksgiving Edition

1. I am thankful for my family warts and all. Today I am having Dinner with the Rivera clan for thanksgiving. It is the first time I have been to their home for the holiday it is usually spent with Jim either here or in Allentown. We are leaving my sister’s house by quarter of 1. Not going for the pre snack session (although we still may catch it).

Jim will be having dinner with his kids and ex-wife at the local Golf course in Lehigh. Not really sure he is going to have a great time but there is always next year. I will be there for him then.

As I mentioned yesterday Bob’s family will celebrating Thanksgiving together in Alaska where it is snowing. I was worried they weren’t going to be celebrating much. So much for them checking in with us!. Sorry. I should have been in contact with them myself. I know.

2. I am thankful for my kitties. They have been doing well. Returning to some of their old routines (sleeping in places they haven’t in a while). Running around like lunatics at times. They are going to have their space invaded by another human for a night. Let’s hope they are more receptive then in the past.

3. I am thankful for my job. Things are going well there. We had a short week due to Thanksgiving. I look forward to this time every year. I know I will have plenty to do come Monday.

4. I am thankful for the Medical profession that keeps me on the road to good health. Still taking antibiotics this week for the UTI. I had my infusion yesterday. I have a few appointments coming up in December.

5. I am thankful for my neighbors. Everyone is good. Celebrating the holiday this week. Neighbor Sylvia is waiting on more responses to her open house.

6. I am thankful for my home. It has managed to stay cleaned for the most part.
7. I am thankful for my friends. I heard from my friend Dr T this week and she is doing well. I finally have an address for her and have seen her beautiful Floridian home! It’s huge and beautiful. I will have an opportunity to write some letters this weekend.

8. I am thankful for the organizations I belong to. The ladies guild is now in post Auction mode and we will find out next month how we did. Then we will have our Christmas party and then off for January which then starts my part of nomination committee.
9 I am thankful for the weather. The weather for Today was beautiful. 40 Degrees and sunny. It got colder as the sun begun to set but it was still great.
10. I am thankful for the men and women who choose to protect and serve their country and their citizens even at the worst possible times.

Thankful Thursday

1.            I am thankful for my family warts and all. My Niece celebrated her birthday yesterday.  Actually she did earlier in the week with her husband, mother and several of her friends in NY.  Everyone else is fine.  I will be spending Thanksgiving with My sister and her family at my Niece and nephew’s home.

2.            I am thankful for my kitties.  They are good.  They have been running around at night and at times cuddly.  They do sleep on the bed at night.  They will probably curl up soon and relax until it’s time for me to go to bed.

3.            I am thankful for my job.  Things have been busy on a daily basis. Mostly working on mail.  Been able to scan daily .  Didn’t  do a lot of refund work this week actually.   The Area Union Committees are preparing for the power point presentation for information for members.  I wasn’t as successful to get my people to go but others were.  They need to know what we are facing in 2020.

Earlier this week a flyer went around announcing having theme baskets that areas have to work at as  team.

4.            I am thankful for the Medical profession that keeps me on the road to good health.   I have to be on antibiotics again for another UTI.  Says if I get another one I will need to see a Urologist. In December I have a cardiologist and eye Doctor appointment.
.
5.            I am thankful for my neighbors.    Everyone has been busy.  Some are on vacation.    Others working.   My neighbor Shannon had a swim meet last week and they won.  I haven’t caught up with the Michigan neighbors I hope to soon.  I also learned that Neighbor Sylvia has put her house up for sale-again.  Better Luck this time.

6.            I am thankful for my home.  It is providing me a great place to be protected and comfortable.  I am still working on getting it better organized.    I see some projects ahead of me but they do need to wait.  I did get the shower handle fixed.

7.            I am thankful for my friends.  I heard from Dr. T about the woman’s club.  We can’t officially close until we distribute all the funds from the Scholarship.

8.            I am thankful for the organizations I belong to.  This weekend is the Ladies Guild Auction.  Not sure what the attendance will be but I am looking forward to it.

9             I am thankful for the weather.   It’s been cold and we have had some rain.  Don’t know if we’ll get snow for thanksgiving or not.
10.         I am thankful for the men and women who choose to protect and serve their country and their citizens even at the worst possible times.    Enough said.

Celebrating Veteran’s Day

Today is actually the official Veteran’s Day holiday but  many companies, businesses, schools, and federal agencies observed it yesterday.  Some banks are open and some are not I thought for sure the post office was closed but I got junk mail.

I am grateful to those who chose to serve and protect our country in all ways.  I know it can’t be easy on them.  Many members of my family have served over the years and they have seen many things and it cost them dearly.

The volume of the mail allowed me to spend a little more time scanning, and then doing  a little of everything else.  Still working on the readdress mail.   I was able to send some stuff out as it came in and others not so much.  My hope is to have it out of here by Monday afternoon.  I am thinking we won’t have a lot of mail from one source but more from another.

The ride home was surprisingly heavy but I made it home in good time and called Mama R.  She just got my letter that very afternoon  We talked about things going on in both our cities. Woman’s club business.  We couldn’t talk long because her friends from the outer banks were visiting.

I came inside and sky was waiting for me and Tiger eventually came down and I made my dinner and watched TV for awhile.

I did start some letter writing and have a letter to an old friend in Kentucky.  I did put her file in “Potential Pen pal “ folder until I hear from her along with Dawn in Florida.

I had a great telephone conversation with a girl from HS.  We have been friends on FB for several years now and we caught up on our lives and family.  It was a little hard to hear her at times (damn cell phone).  She is making plans to retire from the city in about a year and move to FLorida.  She already has invited me to come see her.

It was nearly ten when I got into bed.  I had started some laundry and wanted to go to bed.  I actually was going to do some more writing but when the kitties came up I knew I wasn’t going to do it.

Now that it is Saturday morning we have done our morning routine.  I did go back to sleep for a bit and then got up watched TV and started surfing the net.  I have a couple of letters here waiting to be answered.  My original plan was to be up and grocery shopping by now.  I don’t really need anything yet.  I could do it later or tomorrow.  It really is too cold.

Sky has been walking around here meowing (or being vocal) and a few times he would let me hold him.  The last time I held him he went to his spot above my head (on the couch).  Tiger I think is upstairs on the bed.  They haven’t really finished their breakfast.  Sky goes back and forth and plays with it and then proceeds to walk on the furniture with it on his pads.  Eww.  Then he grooms himself.  There he goes again.

There is going to be an NCIS Veteran’s Day marathon on so I am going to sit back and settle down and write letters and watch the marathon.

Thankful Thursday

1.            I am thankful for my family warts and all. After all the reservation making and email sending.  I get word today that my Ex SIL invited us to Thanksgiving Dinner.  I had already sent messages to Jim but he didn’t see it that I had made reservations.   So my plans for thanksgiving have changed.

DId some scanning yesterday but we were having some network issues.  Didn’t  do a lot of refund work this week actually.   The Area Union Committees are preparing for the power point presentation for information for members.  This process will be ongoing in preparation for our 2020 contract.

Earlier this week a flyer went around announcing a cookie swap for the week before our recess.  We also got a reminder about the annual YM holiday party.

4.            I am thankful for the Medical profession that keeps me on the road to good health.  I have my infusion the day before Thanksgiving.  It is also the anniversary of the lupus Diagnosis..  They really are doing a great job.  I see the Rheumatologist in January, Still  need to ask about the Garlic and Melatonin bits I learned about last month.  I see the Pulmonary specialist next month as well.  I see the hemotologist next week as well. I haven’t seen the Health coach in a couple of weeks. I have been either too tired or just to busy.  I will be having a phone session with Debra this week.
.
5.            I am thankful for my neighbors.    Everyone has been busy.  Some are on vacation.    Others working.  I am looking forward to my neighbor shannon coming home for the thanksgiving holiday.

6.            I am thankful for my home.  It is providing me a great place to be protected and comfortable.  I am still working on getting it better organized.    I see some projects ahead of me but they do need to wait.  I did get the shower handle fixed.

8.            I am thankful for the organizations I belong to. Now that recent election season is over we can relax for a couple of months.  Then in January we begin all over again with State elections.    The Ladies Guild Auction is just under two weeks away.  Its usually a lot of fun.  I am helping out with the tickets again this year.  Ticket sales a little slow.    We also have a Christmas Party too.

9             I am thankful for the weather.   WE had a lot of rain in the last few days.  The temperatures are supposed to get really cold.

10.         I am thankful for the men and women who choose to protect and serve their country and their citizens even at the worst possible times.    Enough said.

Mid Week Reflection

Sadness continued from last week into the beginning of this week.  Not for me personally but as a nation.  As we tried to understand and  learn more about the terror attack in NY the end of the weekend brought more death and sadness.  A former Air Force person went into a church and killed 25 or more and injured 20 others to look for his in-laws.  All stemming from a domestic dispute.  We need changes and upgrades to the mental health system.  The Air Force itself is going to be under a lot of scrutiny for this as well.  I noticed today that the flags are at half mast.

The election is over and all is right in town.  I was unable to attend the victory party as I was just getting out of one meeting and it was not a great night for being out.  Now we work on the state campaigns for next year.

I was busy with the Ladies Guild over the weekend between our coffee and…and making preparations for our auction in two week.  I managed to sell 4 tickets. Overall tickets are sluggish I learned. We had a successful events this month overall and I will be helping out the weekend of the auction as well.

I made reservations to Water’s Edge Spa and Resort for Thanksgiving for my brother and I earlier this week.  It wasn’t hard and I am relieved I got it done.  I was afraid I would be too late.  Now I can relax and enjoy my time with him.

Everyone is doing well family wise. We learned we will  have a new baby girl in the spring.  So we are looking forward to that.

Work is fine. Always busy.  Union focusing on the future and making sure the contract is being followed to the letter.

Kitties always amaze me and make me laugh.

One Month Ends

As one month ends another one begins with investigations into a terror attack on NYC yesterday afternoon.  Everyone is praising the efforts of first responders and NYC police for the quick action to what could have been much worse.  IT saddens me this continues.  When will it end?

Last week was doctor appointments, meetings, and family news.  Doctor appointments went well and so did the meetings.  The pulmonary Doctor I will see in early spring for a lung function test.  I have no worries about that.  I have my monthly infusion the day before Thanksgiving and then a couple of days before Christmas.

I will become a great Aunt again. My nephew Chris and lady announced they are going to have a baby in april.   We are all very excited.

This weekend was a weekend for writing letters, volunteering and hoping I didn’t lose power as we had a very powerful storm come through on Sunday into Monday.  We are supposed to get more rain this coming week.
